introduction poem - anger

A Theme of Anger

A theme, a theme you say,
Shall it be childhood, music, love?
Shall we recite words
of fate, of laughter, of friendship?
We would, we would, oh any day we could
for so free and fair a theme, how we wish
But not today
Not today
For Anger has caught us first
Dismissed those golden thoughts;
Anger ensnared us in its vines, and
now within
it boils as a feral beast rejecting reason,
that, if contained any longer,
Bursts
and blinds us as it burns
a fiery blaze of revenge.
A theme, a theme you say,
but Anger became more than that--
Anger is us
